Investigations Division

The Investigations Division coordinates most of the follow-up investigatory work needed by the Sparks Police.  The Investigations Division includes the Detective Section and the Internal Affairs Section.  The Investigations Division is overseen by a Deputy Chief of Police.

The Investigations Division is responsible for: conducting criminal investigations, preparing cases for prosecution, and preparing weekly crime analysis reports; participation with the Regional Repeat Offender Program (ROP), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, the Interdiction Task Force through the HIDTA Initiative, the Fugitive Investigative Strike Team through the HIDTA Initiative, the Regional Street Enforcement Team (SET), the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) and the Regional Crime Suppression Team; overseeing and managing the Property and Evidence Unit; investigating all internal and external personnel complaints.

In an attempt to provide the best service we can to our community, the Sparks Police Department will be implementing several preventative measures to help reduce or prevent the exposure and spread of Covid-19. These changes will begin 11/16/2020. This temporary altering and or reduction in services is only temporary and is designed to help reduce exposure to both our community and our employees. These changes in services are only temporary. Non-Essential Services will be suspended until further notice.
