On June 19, 2017 at about 2:05 p.m. Sparks Police officers responded to multiple reports of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash in the 700 block of Spice Island Drive.

As officers were responding, the suspect vehicle left the scene. The vehicle is described as a white or blue and white pick up truck with a black dump-type trailer attached. The truck may have the words "sierra" or "silver state" on the side in some form. According to witnesses, the truck and driver had been making multiple trips to the area to drop off sandbags at the sandbag collection point at Cottonwood Park. The suspect driver is described as a white male in his 40s. Officers are also attempting to collect video from businesses in the area.

The investigation to this point shows that the motorcycle was west bound on Spice Island Drive. It appears that the suspect vehicle made or was making a u-turn when the collision occured. The suspect vehicle was last seen west bound on Spice Island Drive.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital by REMSA with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The 700 block of Spice Island is closed at this time so officers can complete the investigation. It is expected to remain closed for a few hours. Please avoid the area if possible.
