On March 31, 2021 at approximately 10:38am, Sparks Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of El Rancho Drive for an unresponsive male. Officers arrived and confirmed the 60-year-old male was deceased. Due to obvious signs of injuries, Sparks Police Detectives were called to the scene. After interviewing witnesses, a suspect was identified.

Sparks Police Detectives began looking for 26-year-old Sparks resident Olson BELTRAN for questioning related to the death of the male.

At approximately 1:30pm, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suspicious subject at 3790 U.S. Highway 395. Deputies observed the subject in a vehicle that was later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle reported to the Reno Police Department earlier in the day. Douglas County Deputies arrested the male, Olson BELTRAN, and booked him at the D.C. Jail for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Sparks Police Detectives learned that BELTRAN was in custody at the Douglas County Jail. Beltran remains in the Douglas County Jail on local charges. He is pending extradition to Washoe County where he will be charged with Open Murder with an enhancement of victim over 60 years old.
