The Sparks Police Department Mounted Unit consists of police officers from any division within the Department. The Mounted Unit is normally used during downtown special events, parades, memorial events or when large crowds are expected. The horses provide the officers with a different vantage point and amplify the officer’s ability to control, move or disperse crowds. The Horse Mounted Unit is also a crowd favorite.
