Shooting into an occupied structure

At about 1739 hours on October 13, 2020, Sparks Police Officers responded to the 600 block of East Lincoln Way for multiple reports of shots fired in the area. One reporting party advised that his neighbor had shot at him from across the parking lot. A physical description and location were given for the suspect.

Officers arrived in the area and immediately located the suspect, identified as John Caster, standing on a balcony outside of his residence. Caster advised officers that he had a handgun on the ground next to him. Caster was taken into custody without incident. Caster spoke with officers and admitted to the incident.

Caster was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility where he was booked under the following charges:  Assault with a deadly weapon, Discharge a gun into an occupied structure, Possession of a gun while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and Possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
